Full name Dexter Anthony Titus Blackstock, was born in Oxford where he came through the Oxford youth system before signing for Southampton for £275,000.
Blackstock first turned heads when he scored a hat-trick against Colchester in 2004, he was brought into the full Southampton side after an injury crisis. After following up the hat-rick with a goal against bitter rivals Portsmouth he established himself in the side.
Whilst at the saints Dexter Blackstock spent two loan spells; once to Plymouth Argyle in February 2005 scoring 4 goals in 14 appearances, and to Derby County in October 2005, scoring 3 goals in 9 appearances.
Blackstock moved to Queens Park Rangers on August 10, 2006 for a fee believed to be around £500,000. Finishing the season as top scorer bagging 14 goals in all competitions for QPR established him as a fan favourite. Dexter Blackstock was rewarded QPRs Young Player of the Year award.
